Personally this is my favourite gay beach in Algarve ! It's located near the city of Portimão but quite a long walk from the city center. I'd recommend to go by car and you have some parking options a spot called casa de Guarda on the map. This is the same parking option to go to João de Arens or praia do submarino. It's a dirt road but it's ok for all kind of vehicules. To go to João de Arens, you should take the small pathes going down to the left, through a quite beautiful and Very colourful mini "canyon". Then you'll arrive to a first officially naturist beach with a sign indicating it. This is João de Arens. On the left you will see a small passage under the cliff, taking you to the second beach which to me is much better: you always have sunny and shady part whatever the time of the Day. Both a very popular with gay guys of all ages and you'll find quite a lot of young guys coming here for the beauty of the spot, you'll find also some straight people and some families especially in high seasons. And another Reason why the second beach is much better to me is that you have several small passages (also the the left) in the cliff , taking you to some mini caves (3 different ones at least) that are used like natural back rooms by the guys ! Lot of action here, especially later in the afternoon before sunset. This second beach is also perfect for sunset facing west. All of this makes João de Arens one of the best gay beach in Portugal!
